A lot of transfers here and there. Must be very hard keeping track of them all, right? Don’t get worried, we at TouchlineUI have compiled a 26 man list of the top transfers in the World so far. A Big thanks to Ijose Oluwatosin for this brilliant idea.
Alexis Sanchez (Chile):
He beat the likes of Adam Lallana, Antoine Griezmann and Alvaro Morata to this spot. The 25 year old moved from Barcelona to Arsenal in a deal worth 44 million Euros. Had a good World Cup outing and brings a whole lot to the Gunners’ attack in terms of pace, industry, flair and most importantly depth, something the Gunners badly lacked last season.
Bacary Sagna (France):
He beat Bojan to this spot. Had a good last season for the Gunners but now has to battle with fans favorite, Zabaleta, for a first team spot. He moved to the Blue Side of Manchester on a free transfer.
Cesc Fabregas (Spain):
Would have preferred Arsenal but Chelsea will do. He failed to hold a starting spot in his favorite position at Barcelona but should not worry much about that at Chelsea. He moved for a fee of 36 million Euros.
Diego Costa (Spain):
Well this was expected. It was always going to happen. Had a fantastic last season with Atletico Madrid but not a good summer at the World Cup. He will hope to quench all every fire of doubt about his quality and 40 million price tag in his new blue shirt. This position was highly contested though, with the likes of Drogba and David Luiz falling by.
Emre Can (Germany):
This was a tough choice between the former Bayern Man and Enner Valencia. Generally touted to develop and replace Steven Gerrard. At this young age, the prospects are high indeed. He moved from Bay Arena to Liverpool for a sum of 12 million Euros.
Filipe Luis (Brazil):
The 28 year old had a fantastic season with Atletico as they won the Primera Liga and finished runners-up in the UEFA Champions League. The Brazilian will team up with friends and Atletico teammates, Courtois and Costa. This 20 million move definitely made Chelsea stronger.
Gylfi Sigurdsson (Iceland):
For an undisclosed fee, the 24 year old moves from Tottenham to Welsh Side, Swansea.
Hordur Magnussanon (Iceland):
A defender from Juventus on loan to Cesena. Definitely going to pick up match experience and would hope to return to his Old Lady and fight for her love.
Ivan Rakitic (Croatia):
The Croat had a good season with Sevilla as the Andalusia side won Europe’s Second tier Club Competition. His good performances earned him a summer move to a New Camp for a fee of 19 million Euros.
James Rodriguez (Colombia):
The latest Galactico. The latest player to fail to ignore the advances of the Blancos. 80 million was the fee; Monaco was the former club, Bernabeu the destination. Over 350,000 shirt sales in the first week, definitely the kind of signing Perez was looking for. Many thought it would be Suarez making that move but he must have bitten his chance away. Rodriguez is the new star, dazzled at the World Cup and got his reward. All eyes are on Ancelotti as he tries to figure out a way of effectively including this man in his side.
Kieran Richardson (England):
The once upon a time Man. United midfielder moved from Fulham to Aston Villa for an undisclosed fee.
Luis Suarez (Uruguay):
Many won’t be surprised with his inclusion. He just had to be in this list 95 million and I’m sure you agree. Arguably the biggest signing alongside James Rodriguez, his switch from Liverpool to Barcelona was marred by a poor World Cup. One can only hope he can gel with Messi and Neymar.
Mario Mandzukic (Croatia):
Definitely had to look for a club that would assure him of a starting spot with Lewandowski sure to beat him to a starting place at Bayern Munich. Atletico Madrid, who just lost her main striker, is the next stopping point for the Croatian. He moved to Spain for a fee of 22 million Euros.
Nemanja Vidic (Serbia):
Perhaps for the taste of a new challenge, moved from Man.U to Inter Milan for free.
Oier Olazabal (Spain):
This 6ft 2in tall goalkeeper was signed on a free transfer from Barcelona by Granada. Barcelona is entitled to a certain percentage of any future transfer of this player.
Patrice Evra (France):
The fear of Luke Shaw? Maybe. A fresh challenge? Maybe. But what we do know is that the French skipper moved left the Red Devils for Turin for a fee of 1.5 million Euros.
Quini (Spain):
The 24 year old right back moved from Real Madrid Castilla (the reserve team) to Rayo Vallecano with whom he penned a 3-year deal. It was a free transfer, having played a total 2440 minutes for his former team with a goal and 12 yellow cards. He is equally adept at playing as a winger.
Robert Lewandowski (Poland):
Branded a traitor, he followed in the footsteps of Gotze. The Pole moved from Borussia Dortmund to eternal rivals, Bayern Munchen for free and for a chance to lead the attack of one of the greatest teams in club football.
Serge Aurier (Ivory Coast):
One of the hottest young right backs in the World now had a fantastic World Cup and would be hoping to make the big money move soon. But for now, he gets a chance to make a name with a loan move from Toulouse to PSG.
Toni Kroos (Germany):
He is a World Cup winner, Champions League winner, Bundesliga winner and a DFB Pokal winner. There was nothing more to win so guess it was time to leave the Arena and what better team to go than Real Madrid for 30 million Euros.
Urby Emmanuelson (Netherlands):
The defender left AC Milan for free to join Italy’s Second Placed Side, AS Roma.
Vlada Avramov (Serbia):
A goalkeeper; left Cagliari for Torino, for an undisclosed fee.
Willy Caballero (Argentina):
Another goalkeeper. Left Malaga for Man. City for a fee of 8 million. Considering the departure of Pantolimon and that Pellegrini was once his boss, he would definitely keep Joe Hart on his feet.
Ximo Navarro:
The 24 year old right back secured a move from boyhood club, Real Mallorca to Almeria in a 3 year deal on the 12th of June, 2014. He’ll wear the Number 4 Jersey.
Yacine Brahimi (Algeria):
The midfielder moved from Granada to Porto for a fee of 6.5 million Euros. He scored a goal at the World Cup for Algeria and he is an accomplished dribbler of the ball averaging more dribbles per game than Messi, Neymar and Ronaldo in the La Liga last season. In fact, his 5.1 dribble average is second only to Ribery (5.7 dribbles per game) in the whole of Europe last season.
Zarate Mauro (Argentina):
Velez Sarsfield to West Ham, an attacker, for an undisclosed fee. He completes this alphabetically ordered list of movers.
